Our story

EMPOWERING THE LIVES OF INDIVIDUALS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

Flour Power is a bakery with a social-driven mission that aims to create a more inclusive workplace for everyone. Our passion lies in empowering people with special needs by providing them with training in baking and other occupational skills.

Led by Hiok Keat, who brings several years of experience in running operations at a social enterprise restaurant that garnered multiple awards, Flour Power is committed to making a positive impact in the F&B sector.

Hiok Keat’s journey began with Project Dignity (Dignity Kitchen), where the focus was on work placement, job integration, and supporting individuals with disabilities and special needs to succeed in the F&B industry. Over a decade of dedicated efforts, the enterprise expanded, winning recognition and accolades. Taking over Flour Power, Hiok Keat embraced the existing vision to assist those with special needs, addressing the uncertainties and challenges they often face when seeking employment.

BAKING AS A LIVELIHOOD

At Flour Power, we firmly believe that creating pastries in a social setting offers numerous benefits to our workers. Baking becomes a vehicle for self-expression, allowing our employees to showcase their talents and improve their motor skills through crafting delectable treats. Pastries are not only skillfully made but also tangible symbols of our employees’ hard work and dedication, boosting their self-esteem and confidence.

Our mission is to create delicacies that stand on their own merit, not merely because they support a cause. By maintaining the excellence of our goods, Flour Power remains sustainable, allowing our employees to continually improve and prepare for future employment opportunities.
Inclusivity and Collaboration

Looking ahead, we envision Flour Power to be an inclusive hub, working with diverse groups of learners, including those with disabilities and special needs. Our aim is to develop a standard framework that fosters understanding of various learning styles, enabling seamless collaboration among individuals with different abilities. By incorporating the Universal Design for Learning framework (UDL) and adapting it for Singaporean learners, we strive to create an environment where everyone can flourish.

CSR Teambuilding And WORKSHOPS

Our offerings extend beyond being just a bakery; we are also a catalyst for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
